This has been delayed due to my blog being created within the end of last week. There are a fair few things that I have been taught in my first 6 weeks at university.
In Software design and development I have been studying two different areas, Modelling and Programming. For modelling I have been learning about things such as class diagrams, use case diagrams, activity diagrams, the relationships between classes and scenarios. For programming I have been learning about coding within the programming software known as BlueJ. This is a Java based programming language. This included an introduction to classes and objects, designing my own classes, methods, constructors and fields, an introduction to accessor and mutator methods, local variables, abstraction and modularisation, connecting objects, variables and the modulo operator.
For the project we have been introduced to project management skills as well as been placed in a group to design, implement and test a group project, in the form of an android application. This will take place through out the year. We are currently in the designing phase and are creating designs for the project (use case, class diagrams, activity diagrams, flow charts, specifications, etc.).
For Studio 1, we have been creating a website. This was the virtual Erewhon Site and this was done as a group project over 4 weeks. This website is now completed. We then had to create an evaluation of our work, that has now been completed and handed in(both paper and through TurnItIn electronic plagiarism checker. We have also been learning Unix commands and learning about processes, pipes, users and permissions.
For Computing Sciences I have been learning about sets and sequences, graphs and trees, abstract machines and finite state machines, problem solving and the development of algorithms.
For Hardware and networks we have been computers and their components, subsystems, data representation, analogue, digital, logic gates and logic circuits.
